Living Life As A Newlywed

Now that I am no longer planning a wedding (which btw I can't tell you how happy I am about this)I don't need a blog called Planning Our Wedding. I have decided even though I didn't have a lot of followers on my wedding blog that I would not give up blogging and am working on a new blog.

The new blog is titled Living Life As A Newlywed and will consist of me writing about everyday life and my journey as a new wife interested to see if married life changes things after being with each other for 7 years and living together before marriage. I encourage all the 14 people who follow me now (not a joke) to please start following me on my new blog. This is definitely going to be a change for me trying to figure out something interesting to write instead of writing about our wedding plans.

My first post will be about our fabulous honeymoon so go check it out!!!!!!!!!!! Like Now! Go!!!!!!!!!!!

Went from Being a Ms. to a Mrs.

Well hello lovelies!

Oh how I've missed thee. Well I am finally back from our honeymoon and am now Mrs. Heather A. Lopez!!!!!! The wedding was beautiful! I have to first say that everything went by soooooooooo fast, most of it is a total blur.

So I got up early that morning and we had our hair appointments that started at 9 a.m. Then after our hair was done we went to one of my bridesmaids house to get our makeup done. Then around 2:30 p.m. I headed to the venue to finish setting up what I needed to set up. Around 3 is when the bridal party arrived at the venue to get ready. It was very hard for me to stay in the back room and not have control of what needed to be done. Trusting friends to give the flowers to the right grandparents and parents, etc. etc.

Once it was time to start walking out, I got soooooooooo nervous and couldnt believe this was finally happening. As soon as I get to the aisle runner to walk down I LOST it!!!!!!!!!!! I mean completely lost it!!!!!!!!!!! I was crying like a baby. I can't even tell you why! I didn't notice anything except for Joey. I didn't see the people in the aisles, our wedding party or even the flowers on the ground. My face was sooooo red and I must say I was taken totally off guard by it.

The ceremony was beautiful but we did have just a few blunders. The first was our vows.  I found the vows that I wanted us to say from online. As soon as I saw it I knew it was perfect for us. Its a little non traditional and contemporary and a little long. Here is what we vowed to each other:

I, ______, choose you, ______, to be my wife/husband. I love you. You are my best friend. Today I give myself to you in marriage. I promise to encourage and inspire you, to laugh with you, and to comfort you in times of sorrow and struggle. I promise to love you in good times and in bad, when life seems easy and when it seems hard, when our love is simple, and when it is an effort. I promise to cherish you, and to always hold you in highest regard. These things I give to you today, and all the days of our life.

So at some point when I'm saying my vow I have to get the pastor to repeat the sentence 2x!!!!!!!! Not just once but twice. I'm telling you I was a wreck. The next blunder was our outer candles for our unity candle wasnt lit. So when it got time to light the candle we had to stop and ask someone for a lighter! LOL

Other than that the night was great. Just wish it wouldn't have gone by soooo fast. It will be a little while before I get our wedding pictures but here is a sneak peek!

Thankful Thursday

With 2 days away from our wedding, I wanted to thank everyone who has been a part of this journey. We started out with a 14 month engagement and it has been a long and mostly stressful process. I have enjoyed most of it but probably would have lost my mind without the help of friends, blogger friends and family to help me get through.

I am very lucky to have so many people that love me and support me. This is why we have such a large wedding party! First I want to say thank you to my few blogger friends who have helped give me advice and words of encouragement to get through some of the madness that is wedding planning!

Next I want to thank my wonderful friends and wedding party for just being them and being our friends!!!!!! Most of them have been with us from the very beginning back in 2003!!!!! It has been a long and wonderfully sometimes bumpy ride and we are so glad to have always had yalls support even when we made a maybe not so smart decision back in the day.

To our family, we want you know that yall mean the world to us! We had this big wedding so that yall could be a part of it and enjoy the day with us. We are soooo thankful for everything yall have done for us and supporting us through the good times and the bad. We love yall very much!

To those that are no longer with us, we miss you dearly! Words can not express how much we wish you were here. Dad, I wish you were here to walk me down the aisle. I will be thinking of you and so glad you and Joey got to spend time together before you passed away. Grandpa and Grandma Hill, I wish sooooo badly that you could have met Joey. Papa you would have loved him. He loves baseball just as much as you did. Yall would have gotten along great!

Well thanks again everyone for your support and encouragement and we love you!!!!!!!!!!1

Wedding Wednesday {4.21.10}

Well I've finally got my dress!!!!!!!!!!!! It turned out great! I also had a dress made to change into later during the reception. The only thing I have to say about the whole dress thing is I wish I would have actually lost some weight. It makes me sad that I'm back at my heaviest for the most important day of my life. I guess I'm just so disappointed in myself for not following through with it. I've been having a really hard time with this lately.

I don't know what it is but I have a little control problem that probably comes from the madhouse that I grew up in. But the only thing I can't seem to control is my weight and problem with food. I dont really want to talk about it anymore because I am supposed to be happy that I'm getting married this weekend. And yes I know I'm by no means "fat" but because I am only 5'4" I am bigger than what I would like to be.

To lighten up the mood I've decided to share my dresses with you all. Joey has not seen my wedding dress and luckily he does not read my blog! So without further adue here they are:

Tisk Task Tuesday {4.20.10}

Countdown: 4 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OMG, I cant believe I'm finally getting married in 4 days! I have been so stressed  making sure that I'm not forgetting anything and hoping that the logistics of the wedding go smoothly and of course wanting to make sure everyone has a good time.

The only thing we have left to do is finish packing and putting everything in my car. Later today we meet with our officiate for the first time together. We have a pretty good idea of how the ceremony is going to go but just looking over everything one last time. We have to pick Joey's dad up from the airport late Wednesday night and then Thursday right after work I leave to Katy to stay with my best friend and foster family. Friday we have our nail appointment and then I'll be heading to our venue around 3 to drop off the rest of our items and set up.

Then our rehearsal starts at 5pm on Friday and after the rehearsal we are heading to dinner at Los Cucos. Then Saturday I will be Mrs. Joey Lopez!!!!!!

Tisk Task Tuesday {4.13.10}

Countdown: 11 days!!!!!!

That's right only a few more days and we're down to single digits! Isn't that just crazy! Well first let me say I still haven't received my dress yet. I should get it tomorrow but not gonna hold my breath. I met with my dress lady yesterday and did get to see the top of my dress finished and it is beautiful! She is still working on the bottom part of my dress.

This weekend I went to stay the weekend with my foster parents and was very very busy. Friday, me and my foster mom worked on my favors. We decided to do Navy blue boxes with white Jordan Almonds inside and a white bow on top. Well let me just say someone should have told me ahead of time that the boxes were not going to come already made. Yep that's right they came looking like this:

So me and my foster mom had to put all 125 of them together. Then stuff them with the almonds then put the bows on them. Here is a pic of the final product:

We did get them all finished on Friday thank goodness. Then on Saturday we were up early for a long busy day ahead of us. We went to Memorial City Mall and I had a makeup trial at Clinique. They did an awesome job! They always do. They did my makeup for prom 7 years ago! We decided to buy the makeup that we used and then I will still get my cousins friend to do it for me using my makeup instead of the MAC products she used to make sure its a lot more natural. Since I dont do black eyeliner we decided to do blue eyeshadow for they eyes with a slate eyeliner then a nice pink blush and a nude color for the lips. Here is pic:

My foster mom also bought me the roceasa cleansing line that Clinique has and it is so soothing and it seems to be helping. So I decided not to have a facial since we have less than a week for the wedding and because I have never had one before I am not sure how it will affect my skin. Better to be safe than sorry.

So after tons of shopping at the mall, we headed to get my hair trimmed and highlighted. I was so glad to get home and relax but had a fabulous weekend and am soooo ready for this wedding already!

Wedding Wednesday: Makeup Trial

Last night I had my makeup trial. My wonderful cousin and Matron of Honor was able to get one of her friends to do all of my girls and my makeup for the wedding day. She is even driving to one of my bridesmaids house who lives down the street from the venue to make it easier on us since we are all coming from different places. And the best part is she's only charging $20 per girl.

She did a fabulous job on me. First I have to say that my face is going through something right now at the worst possible time and so i'm doing everything I can to get it better. As for those that don't know I just found out in January that I have Rosacea. Rosacea is a chronic skin condition involving inflammation of the cheeks, nose, chin, forehead, or eyelids. It may appear as redness, prominent spider-like blood vessels, swelling, or skin eruptions similar to acne. For me it appears as redness pretty much all over my face. There is no known cure for rosacea. The goal is to identify and avoid possible triggers, and thus reduce flare-ups. Antibiotics taken by mouth (such as tetracycline, minocycline, or doxycycline) or applied to the skin (such as metronidazole) may control skin eruptions.

When I went to the dermatologist in January to try to help the problem before the wedding I was put on an antibiotic and given certain creams for my face. When I went back in February, it hadn't gotten any better so I was told to stay on the antibiotic and given another face cream to try. Since I've started this in January, my face has gotten sooooooo dry and even though I put moisturizer on before I put my makeup on it always cracks. So I have stopped taking all of my medicine in hopes that it will help.

So this weekend my goal is to get a facial which ive never had before b/c i have sensitive skin to try to see if it will help. I am also going to get Clinique's Moisture Surge and try to find a good foundation for dry skin. Hopefully taking these steps will help.

So with all that said here is the final product of my makeup trial from last night. Again I am going with a more natural look. My coloring that day will consists of pinks. I will be changing the eyeliner from a black to a gray slate color and a little less blush.

Tisk Task Tuesday

Countdown: 18 days

Joey and I can now legally get married!!!Yesterday Joey and I went and got our marriage license!!!!!!!!! I had it in my head we were gonna have to fill out all this paperwork when in fact it was the easiest thing ive ever done! We just sat there while they asked some questions and we paid and that was it. We were out of there in 10 minutes!

My makeup trial that I was supposed to have this weekend got rescheduled to tonight. If I like it I will post a pic up tomorrow. Then tomorrow I am supposed to finally pick up my dress and the rest of my bridesmaids dresses. I am praying that they will be ready tomorrow. Remember I haven't seen mine yet at all!!!!!!! So just a little nervous.

This weekend Im headed to Katy to spend the weekend with my foster parents and help put together our favors that came in last week. I also have an appointment to get my highlights and a trim. I might also have another makeup trial at Clinique to see which one I like the best. Sometime this week I need to start putting my ceremony music on cds and start breaking in my wedding shoes.

Well thats all for this week. More to come later.

Tisk Task Tuesday

Countdown: 25 days!!!!!!!

Time to get down to the nitty gritty! We've officially past the month mark and now is time for the tiny details that go into planning a wedding. Last week Joey and I ordered our gifts for the guys in the wedding party. We bought personalized shot glasses for the groomsmen and personalized bats for the ring bearer and ushers since they aren't old enough to drink and they LOVE baseball.

This past Saturday we had our food tasting at the venue and finalized the timeline for the day of. We decided on the classic ceasar salad followed by the grilled chicken breast topped with a red wine mushroom sauce alongside creamy mashed potatoes and gravy and the green bean medley. The food was suprisingly amazing. I think everyone will enjoy.

This weekend Joey has his bachelor party which Im sure he's excited about. That same day we have our last dress fitting and the bridesmaids get their dresses. Mine will still need some finishing touches but will hopefully get mine next week. Also this weekend I have a makeup trial appointment with a friend of my cousin who has offered to do our makeup. Im going for something natural and light. Here is a pic of the look i'm going for.
What do you think?

Next Monday, Joey and I are going to apply for our marriage licence. I will try to take some pics. Well that's all for now ladies. I will keep you posted next week!

Tisk Task Tuesday

Countdown: 32 days!!!!!!!!!

We are right there at the month mark and I can't be more excited!!!!!!!!! We are sooo close I can almost see it. Last week while I was off of work for Spring Break I went to visit my nieces and while I was there I found the perfect head pieces for my flower girls. It is a bobby pin with a flower that matches their dress to the T.

This coming Saturday we have our tasting at the wedding location and to figure out the set up for everything. I'm really excited about this. We are having a sit down dinner and have chosen some kind of chicken dinner for the entree. We will be tasting two kinds to see which we like the best.

Next I need to schedule a makeup trial and order gifts for the rest of our wedding party. The countdown is on and I will be pretty busy from now until the wedding. I have never been more ready for anything than I am to marry Joey!

Blue Monday

Today really is a blue Monday for me. Not only is it rainy and ugly here in Houston today but we found out this weekend that Joey's company is closing. He has worked for this company since he was 16 years old. This was his first job and hes never worked any where else in the past 8 years. He worked his way up to becoming the manager of his store for the past couple of years and did a wonderful job.

Unfortunately the company as a whole has not been making a profit for sometime now and because they are a retail store that sells movies and video games people just arent able to spend what they used to. We've known this was going to happen for a little while now and just wasn't sure exactly when. They start liquidating his store on Wednesday and he will have about 6 more weeks of working there.  So pretty much right around the time of our wedding, he will not have a job.

This couldn't have came at the worst possible time as most if not all of our money is tied up in our wedding and honeymoon. Joey thought it would be best if we didn't go on our honeymoon but I convinced him that if we don't go now we will probably never be able to again or at least for not a long time. We will just not be able to do everything we wanted to do while we are there.

I know that we will get through this because we have gotten through so much in the last 7 years that we've been together. I am very lucky to have such a smart and amazing fiance who wants to provide for me and protect me no matter what. I know that this will bring new and better things for us. I just hope its sooner rather than later.

Tisk-Task Tuesday

Countdown: 53 days!!!

This weekend I worked on my place cards! The place cards that came with my place card frames was not working for me. The lines weren't long enough for me to put names of couples and families so I went off to Staples and bought business cards. They fit perfectly! They look really nice and elegant.

This weekend I went looking for gifts for my 4 yes 4 flower girls. I have these white with blue easter baskets that we were gonna use for flower girl baskets when we were gonna do an outside wedding. Then everything changed and I though I would keep them and put some fun stuff in there and give to the flower girls and their gift. Yesterday I was looking online and found this Flower Girl A to Z Book. My flower girls are 6-9 years old.  I think they will like reading about what a flower girl is supposed to do.

This weekend I have my first dress fitting and this is the first time im actually seeing my dress since I'm getting it made. I am uber nervous! Nervous about the dress looking like I want it to look and then nervous because I HAVENT lost any weight and hope that my dress fits me.  I've been really down on myself lately because I just let myself go. You would think I would be more motivated than every to loose weight but I just keep making excuses. And now I really dont know what to do.

My programs should be coming in this week hopefully and I can't wait to see what they look like.

Well wish me luck for my dress fitting and Ill have an update next week!

Wedding Wednesday

OMG today is 2 months until our wedding day!!!!!!!! That is sooo crazy to me! Where did the time go?!? We started out with a 14 month engagement and now we only have 60 days until the big day!

I have ordered our place cards and our programs this past week, which I have to say stressed me out pretty bad. Wanting to make sure I had enough for everyone but not ordering too much made me go a little mad I do have to say. I tend to overthink things ALOT!  For our place cards we chose to do a picture frame so that they could also take home with them after the event.

As for the programs we decided to go with these:

The paper color will be different along with the color of the design and ribbon. Hopefully they will look spectacular!

I have already ordered our table numbers but found out that the site I ordered the programs has table numbers that can match the program so I might end up buying those too.

Will keep you updated as time gets closer!

Thoughtful Thursday

My thought for the day today is wedding related of course. Why do most guys not care about the details that it takes to plan a wedding? They would be content just to get married in their own living room. Well at least that's what my guy said to me yesterday! Now don't get me wrong I think it is soooo sweet that my man just wants to be with me for the rest of his life and doesn't care how he does it.

But since we are having a wedding and a nice one at that, I just figured that you would want a little bit of a say so. See I was confused when in the beginning you didn't want our colors to be pastels or pink and you wanted me to wear an actual wedding dress, I took that as you wanted some sort of say in the matter. Now 2 months before the wedding you dont want me to ask your opinion on the details.

I will never understand guys no matter how hard I try. So tell me ladies are your guys involved in the planning process and how much are they involved?

You Are My Love

This post is dedicated to my one and only love on this Valentine's Day.

Dear Joey,

A year ago today, you asked me the most important question of my life. A question that I'd been waiting for since we first got together because we knew early on that we were meant to be together. It has now been almost seven years since we first started dating and now I'm counting down the days until we get married.

We've grown up together through high school and college and I'm proud to say I love you more than ever. You're the kind of man I always wanted to be with and the one I forever want to kiss. You're smart, funny, kind, and of course good looking. I am so lucky to have you  and am looking forward to spending the rest of our lives together.

I don't tell you enough how much I appreciate all the things you do. But the truth is I don't know what I would do without you. So on this Valentine's Day remember you are my love and the one I've always dreamed of.

Wedding Wednesday

Yesterday I was busy at work so I didnt get to do Tisk-Task Tuesday. We have 73 days left and counting! This weekend me and one of my bridesmaids have hair appointments to figure out which styles I want for myself and my bridesmaids. For the bridesmiads I know I want a low bun because there dress has a pretty high neckline and I think it would look really classic. For me Im pretty sure I want an updo since my dress is strapless I think Id like to show off my neck and back.

Here are some pics Im going to take with us on Saturday to try. Which ones do you like best?

These are ideas for bridesmaids
These are ideas for me

Another Wedding Nightmare

So early this morning I work up from my 2nd wedding nightmare!!!!!! Since we only have 79 days now until the big day I think all the little things is whats stressing me out. My nightmare was so vivid the worst part is I could see this happening.

It was our wedding day and we were all at the location getting ready when about 30 minutes before start time I realized that we left all of our wedding essentials at home!!!!!! This includes the aisle runner, guest book, unity candle, flower girl baskets, my hair piece and even our rings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So I get someone to go tell Joey that he has to drive home and go get the stuff because we cant have a wedding without it. Well by this time people are already starting to get there and the trip takes about an hour round trip. So its almost already an hour since the ceremony is supposed to start and everyone is wondering whats going on and is ready to leave.

I of course start freaking out and decide since its already gotten off to a bad start to just cancel it and try to have it the next day. Thats when I woke up. Lets just hope this isnt a sign and instead will make sure I really dont forget anything!

Tisk Task Tuesdays

Countdown: 88 Days!

Yes we are finally under the 3 month mark! Holly Crap!!!!!!!! Now its time to get down to the nitty gritty! Last night we chose our pics that will be our guest book picture and the one that will get blown up for everyone to see as they walk into the hall. So now I just have to get them ordered which is on my to-do list for this weekend.

I am also going this weekend to look for a veil! I know I said back on this post that I really didn't care for veils and that if I chose to do one that it would be a birdcage veil. Well I asked the fiance his opinion and he said that he didnt like the birdcage veils. So I started looking for ideas and finally realized that because my dress doesn't have a train and that my wedding is now a little bit fancier that I kinda want a cathedral veil like this one. But they are SOOOOO EXPENSIVE! So as I was having lunch with a friend last week she suggested I try to find one on Harwin street.  For those of you not from Houston and not familiar with Harwin street it is a long street with stores and stores of anything you could think of to buy and for really really cheap. It is where I bought my prom dress which looked like this:

Wish me luck!!!!!!!!

Also Im not sure if you recall that Joey and I had first decided not to have alcohol at the reception because we really couldnt afford an open bar. Well we decided to call our venue and ask how much it would cost us for a cash bar and we think its in our budget. That way if our friends want to drink they can they just have to pay for it. What do yall think about this? Were you able to afford an open bar or did you have a cash bar or no alcohol at all?

Wedding Frustration

OK I really just need to vent! I have 3 months to go until wedding day and I have to say I'm ready for it to be OVER with already! For the most part I have enjoyed planning our wedding and even though Ive done most of it by myself I havent been too overwhelmed. The only thing that keeps upsetting me is talk about people getting invited or not invited.

IM SORRY but I cant afford to invite everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have had to make a lot of sacrifices on my end of not inviting some friends of mine and yet there are some people in our family who feel like they can invite whoever they want. First of all this should not still be going on!!!!!!!!!!!! We made our guest list in the first few months we got engaged and now all of a sudden some family members want to invite their friends. HELLO but its my wedding NOT yours!!!!!!!!!! I hate telling people no which is part of my problem but I just wish people would be more considerate. If Ive told you OVER & OVER again that ive had to tell some of my friends they cant be invited why would you insist of me inviting yours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Look I wish I had all the money in the world to spend on my wedding and anyone who wanted to come could but unfortunately we dont! You didnt know this person a year ago when we made our list and now because youve known them for past couple of months you want us to invite them. ITS NOT FAIR!!!!!!

OK im done ranting and if anyone else is having or has had this problem in the past PLEASE let me know how you got through it.

Tisk Task Tuesday

Countdown: 95 days!!!!!!!!!!

This past week I did a whole lot of wedding stuff. Joey and his brother who is one of our ushers got fitted for their tuxs on Wednesday nite and then Thursday nite Joey and I had dinner at the resturant we were considering for our rehearsal dinner. The food was really good and the place is very nice. So after our dinner we spoke with the manager to look at the rooms and to see if they had our date available. And they did!!!!!!!!!!

So our rehearsal dinner location is a mexican resturant called Los Cucos and is located off of Westherimer. We have about 40 people in our wedding party alone including parents and grandparents and about 10 more or so of out of town guests that will be invited to the rehearsal dinner. I know thats a lot of people for a rehersal dinner! Because there are so many people we had to find a place that was cheap enough for us to pay for everyone. When pricing around most places were around $18/$19 per person for a buffet style. When we heard the prices at Los Cucos I couldnt believe it! We will be having a fajita buffet for $11.99 per person! I know way cheaper than the other places right! So our rehearsal will take place the nite before the wedding at 5 p.m. and then will head to dinner around 6 p.m.

Now on to the other stuff I did wedding related last week. We purchased our aisle runner, unity candle and a monogram decal for the dance floor! We purchased all of these from Rexcraft. Our next things to do are to order our ceremony programs, wedding favors and place cards. I can't believe we are almost to our 3 month mark and i'm getting a little nervous that im going to forget something. I am also getting anxious as to how everything is going to look when its all put together. Its so hard for me to imagine things and I just hope it all goes together.

Tisk Task Tuesday

Countdown: 102 days!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't believe how much closer it is until the wedding. I have to say I'm starting to freak out just a little. I'm so scared that I am going to totally forget something. Well for now Im going to tell you about this past week.

As most of you know I had my bachelorette party and bridal shower this past weekend. They were both just fabulous! I have to thank all my bridesmaids for all their hard work. I truly have the best friends a girl could ask for. My favorite color is pink so my bridal shower decorations were all pink and silver and it was very feminine and beautiful. My fiances aunt's best friend made the cake and it was stunning and also tasted very good. The first layer was a chocolate cake and the bottom layer was a white cake. Here are a couple of pics:

This weekend I also sent out our wedding invitations!!!!!!!! I am soo excited to have those out! Here are some pics.

This week, Joey is getting fitted for his tux and we are going to reserve the resturant for our rehersal dinner.
