To Be or Not to Be

To be or not to be? That was the question for our wedding venue. At the end of last year BEFORE we were even engaged, we put down a deposit on a cute little bed and breakfast in Baytown called Oakland on Burnet Bay. I really wanted to have an outside wedding for some reason and it is right next to the water and I thought it would be perfect.

Little did I know all the little things you have to do when you have an outside wedding. For example, you have to get a tent in case it rains, a dance floor, the china and silverware, table linens, etc. etc. Then on top of that, you have the stress of making sure someone gets things cleaned and back to the rental place. I was already stressing about it!

So after calculating everything up I tried to see if we could find another location for around the same price but without all the stress! Well yesterday I found the PERFECT location. It's called the Ayva Center. It's in a central location, the inside is beautiful and the best part is I don't have to worry about ANYTHING! We get more time, a seated dinner instead of a buffet and we don't have to worry about the weather. I couldn't be happier!

Check out the website and let me know what you think!

If I Only Had More Money

Don't you sometimes just wish money grew on trees? I know right now I do. When we first starting talking about where we wanted to get married I said that I really wanted to get married outside. Because of our budget we thought our wedding was going to be pretty informal because we couldn't afford something really spectacular.

But now that the planning has really started I have decided that I want something nicer than just informal. So now my goal is to have a semi-formal wedding with our budget. That is coming out to be harder than I anticipated. I want a nice tent and a dance floor so more than just 20 people can dance at the same time. I want nice decorations and to put it simply I just want it to be PERFECT! Is that too much to ask for?

I plan on only getting married once and I want it to be the wedding of my dreams. I am probably going to have to make sacrifices along the way and should start getting used to that. We are VERY thankful to have a friend take our pictures as their gift to us and a friend's mom make both of our cakes as her gift to us. I know I stress about EVERYTHING but that's just my nature. I will try to work on that.

If anyone knows of any cheap places to get linens, silverware and plates, please let me know!

Ready to Rock-N-Roll

First I'd like to say that long engagements suck! Our engagement is only 14 months long but it seems like forever. Joey and I started saving for our wedding before we even got engaged and once we got engaged on VDAY this year I was ready to Rock-N-Roll. The problem is that we still have sooo much time left. I have already bought the pattern & fabric for my wedding dress, booked the location for the ceremony & reception and even the catering.

I know we will be going full force in the next couple of months and I will be wishing it would slow down but in the meantime I'm going crazy!!
